Bill Wells & Aidan Moffat’s much anticipated follow up to their Scottish Album Of The Year (SAY) Award-winning debut, ‘Everything’s Getting Older’.

Wrapped in the handiwork of Moffat’s six-year-old son and taking its name from an IKEA marketing slogan, ‘The Most Important Place In The World’ reunites Bill and Aidan with Chemikal’s imperious in-house producer Paul Savage (Mogwai, Franz Ferdinand, King Creosote).

Recorded at Chem19 and Mogwai’s Castle Of Doom in Glasgow, the sessions feature saxophone, trumpet and tuba as well as contributions from the Cairn String Quartet, members of Wells’ National Jazz Trio Of Scotland and the Glad Café Community Choir.

Following their debut’s preoccupations with ageing, ‘The Most Important Place In The World’ considers the metropolis as femme fatale, exploring the tensions between domesticity and devilry, temperance and temptation.

The theme finds Wells and Moffat in their respective elements: Bill’s exquisite melodies providing the perfect backdrop for Aidan’s crooning, snarling and spoken word invocations from the social and domestic frontlines.

With flourishes of electro pop, film noir, Bacharach & David-style tuxedo seductions and even some Caledonian Gospel, ‘The Most Important Place In The World’ broadens the musical palette employed by its award-winning predecessor.

Featuring 12 nocturnes illuminated by Moffat’s tender, acerbic and darkly comic worldview, this collaboration continues to be a jazz-infused, pathosdrenched triumph.

180gsm heavyweight vinyl includes an additional one-sided 4 track mini album exclusive to this format (‘Epilogue’, ‘A Night Won’t Be Enough’, Weathering’, ‘Seared’)). Also contains a 12pp 12” booklet with hymn sheet and 320kbps MP3 digital download code.
