This release contains the complete jazz combo recordings from the film “I Want to Live” (1958), featuring Susan Hayward – and includes such outstanding musicians as Gerry Mulligan, Bud Shank, Frank Rosolino, Pete Jolly, Art Farmer, Red Mitchell and Shelly Manne. The original orchestral score was composed by Johnny Mandel.

The orchestra itself included Rosolino, Jolly, Mitchell & Manne again, plus Jack Sheldon, Bill Holman, Joe Maini, Mel Lewis, Al Porcino, Russ Freeman, Larry Bunker among many other important names. There are two bonus tracks from the film “The Subterraneans”.
