At the start of 2024, Acid Jazz announced a longterm collaboration with cult club troupe The Ballistic Brothers. After a sell-out 7” of the classic ‘Blacker’, and a series of digital releases, the reissued ‘London Hooligan Soul’ followed in April. Originally consisting of Ashley Beedle and Rocky and Diesel of X-Press 2 (with contributions from keyboard player Uschi Classen, and David Hill of Nuphonic joining for ‘Volume 2’), each member has had storied roles in UK club music. The Ballistic Brothers are a unique product of time and place. A place where a generation of clubbers sought the many routes and possibilities of the burgeoning London dance scene. Originally released on the On Delancy Street label in 1994, ‘The Ballistic Brothers Vs. The Eccentric Afros – Volume 1’ was a club smash. It sat somewhere between a mini album and a 12” EP. The reality is that, a lot like ‘London Hooligan Soul’, it was its own thing. For the first time, the release will be presented in a full-spine outer sleeve with a beautiful recreation of the original graphics by The Unknown, and the music restored and remastered from the original master DATs.
