Enigmatic Brooklyn-based singer songwriter Yaya Bey releases her most expansive work to date, ‘Remember Your North Star’, the debut album on the newly relaunched label Big Dada.

The album explores the landscape of Black music via Yaya’s storyteller approach and examines themes of romantic turbulence, female empowerment, fraught parental relationships and self-actualization, with production primarily from Yaya, Aja Grant (of Phony Ppl) and DJ Nativesun.

Yaya Bey is an artist who “effortlessly mingles the personal and political with enthralling freshness,” as described by Pitchfork.

Yaya’s new album showcases her experimental approach to R&B, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Reggae and Afrobeat.

Yaya has garnered fans and co-signs from the likes of Moses Sumney, Phony Ppl, James Blake, Kota The Friend and Mndsgn, among others.

As a multidisciplinary artist, Yaya also uses art to tell her story and has had her work shown in galleries; with two notable residencies in Brooklyn’s Mocada Museum. Her first release, ‘The Many Alter – Egos of Trill’eta Brown’ in 2016, incorporated a digital collage and a book. This was highly praised by Solange’s Saint Heron agency, The FADER, Essence, and many more.

Upcoming live shows include EU and UK ‘Go-Ya’ co-headline tour with Jazz- infused Hip-Hop artist Goya Gumbani. Yaya will also be performing at DIY Alive Festival (London) and Motel Mozaique Festival (Rotterdam).
