2018 sees The Cars be inducted into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, honouring the legendary band’s incredible musical legacy and enormous commercial success. To kick off these celebrations, The Cars are releasing expanded editions of their two most iconic albums – Shake It Up and Heartbeat City on CD, vinyl and digitally.

This release features the original album with audio remastered in 2016, expanded with rare and unreleased bonus tracks. Illustrated booklets accompany the music and contain liner notes written by the renowned rock journalist David Fricke, who details the history of each album with new interviews with Ric Ocasek.

In 1984, the band released Hearbeat City as a follow up to their 1981 album Shake It Up. It was produced by Robert John “Mutt” Lange, who’d previously worked with AC/DC, Foreigner and Def Leppard. The album went on to sell four million copies. An amazing success, the album launched numerous big singles including hits You Might Think and Drive, which charted at number 4 in the UK as well as Hello Again which had a music video directed by Andy Warhol. Among the seven bonus tracks included on Heartbeat City: Expanded Edition are unreleased versions of Why Can’t I Have You and I Refuse, as well as the demo for Drive.
