Dig is the legendary 1951 Miles Davis session and is now newly reissued on vinyl, also featuring tenor saxophonist Sonny Rollins, alto saxophonist Jackie McLean, pianist Walter Bishop, bassist Tommy Potter and drummer Art Blakey. These 1951 performances provided the foundation for an evolution in both musical style and documentation. They are among the first examples of the percussive, melodically compact, and blues-based extension of jazz modernism that came to be known as hard bop. Dig is undoubtedly a jazz classic from one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century.
